Team Tennis is Back!

🎾 Introducing the Lloydminster Tennis Association Team Tournament!

Get ready for a new way to compete, work together, and represent your team on the court!

The Lloydminster Tennis Association Team Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, featuring a unique one-day team format that combines doubles and singles, with players of different levels contributing to the overall team result.

The tournament is expected to run from approximately 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, making for a full day of competitive and social tennis.

👥 Team Composition

Each team will consist of four players of varying levels, with each player assigned a position based on their playing level:

• Player 1: 4.0+

• Player 2: 3.5–4.5

• Player 3: 3.0–4.0

• Player 4: 3.0–3.5

Each team must also include at least one female player.

The different player levels are designed to create balanced teams while giving players of various abilities an opportunity to contribute.

🎾 Match Format

Each team match will be best of five sets, with all sets played on the same court.

The first team to win three sets wins the match.

The order of play will be:

Set 1 — Player 1 & Player 2 DoublesThe two highest-level players on each team will start things off in doubles.

Set 2 — Player 3 & Player 4 DoublesThe lower-level players will take the court for the second set.

Set 3 — Player 1/2 & Player 3/4 DoublesA new doubles combination pairs a higher-level player with a lower-level player, giving teams another opportunity to gain an advantage.

Set 4 — Player 3 or Player 4 SinglesIf the match is not concluded after Set 3, teams will select either Player 3 or Player 4 to compete in singles.

Set 5 — Player 1 or Player 2 SinglesIf the match remains tied after Set 4, teams will select either Player 1 or Player 2 for the deciding singles set.

This format means every player has an important role, and teams will need to think strategically about their pairings and singles selections.

🔢 Scoring

All sets will use No-Ad scoring.

When a game reaches deuce, the next point wins the game.

For mixed doubles, men will serve to men and women will serve to women on the deciding point. Otherwise, the receiving team may choose which player receives.

📋 Additional Rules

A few additional rules will help keep the tournament moving while allowing teams to enjoy the experience:

• Five-minute warm-up is allowed between sets.

• On-court coaching is permitted, giving teammates an opportunity to help and encourage the players competing.

• Teams are encouraged to remain on the sidelines and support their teammates while matches are taking place.

• New balls may be requested after the third set.
